Forrest Stephen Alston Born February 3, 1952, Berkeley, California
Entered into Rest July 10, 2015, Long Beach, California

Forrest Stephen Alston, a loving brother, uncle, friend, community caregiver, and neighborhood gourmet cook, died July 10, 2015 at the VA Medical Center of Long Beach, California.
Born in Berkeley, California and a local resident of 26 years, Forrest loved living close to the beach and within walking distance of all his favorite hangouts. Long Beach truly was his home. If you knew Forrest, you knew he wanted you to be happy and do right by others. You were likely well fed, and entertained by his laughter, love of music, and expressive personality. Even your dogs received his love, as you passed by his corner apartment (2nd and Orange). He is survived by seven sisters: Jude Carlson, Shirley Gonzalez, Rose Hurd, Nettie Kipp, Kathleen Ku, Lisa Martin, Donna Smith and; three brothers: Harrison Allen, John Askew and Frank Stratton and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a “Toast to Forrest” to celebrate his life, August 1, 2015 from 1:00 - 3:00 at the Sweetwater Saloon, 1201 E. Broadway, Long Beach, California 90802. Stop by and say, “Hi” and share a story or two. For more information contact: Flo (562) 446-5581 or Lisa (510) 508-7844. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to individuals in need, or the Aids Foundation.
